Virginia Tech Hokies Kick Themselves

My Virginia Tech Hokies must be one bad-ass team when the placekickers are the ones that get in trouble. The starter never even made the trip to New Orleans for tonight’s Sugar Bowl clash because he was arrested for breaking and entering. Then, the back-up was sent packing (via bus ticket home to Blacksburg) after he missed curfew while the team was preparing in the Big Easy. What’s left on the roster? …a guy that was unsuccessful on the only two kicks he’s ever attempted. Beamer Ball is just not what it used to be…..and, for that matter either is the 65-year old Frank Beamer. For a coach leading his team to their 19th straight Bowl game and 8th consecutive 10-win+ season, his record against ranked teams is a paltry 41-48-1, especially embarrassing facing Top 5 opponents  (1-19). Michigan comes into the Sugar Bowl ranked #13.  Related articles Sugar Bowl 2012: Virginia…

Rudy (Ruettiger) Gets Sacked by SEC

Yes, that Rudy (a.k.a, Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger) along with 12 others ran the old “pump-and-dump” scheme to increase the value of the sports drink also named “RUDY” to gain more than $11M in illicit profits. The 5’6″ iconic Golden Domer, now 63, is settling out of court with the Securities & Exchange Commission for $382,000. “Rudy” was a great, inspirational sports movie!  One of the very best!  Why ruin its positive social image with this crap?  I never drank this bathwater, but I did have the 1993 movie “Rudy” ranked in the Top 3 of my all-time favorite sports movies…..right behind “Remember the Titans” and “Hoosiers”. Apparently, Mr. Ruettiger  took the “Dream Big! Never Quit!” slogan emblazoned on the RUDY drink can just a bit too far!  Is this just another example of over-hyping everything that is South Bend Irish? I will no longer remember him for being a one-play, walk-on, wonder……instead,…

Coach Todd Graham Sends “See-ya” Text

Head coach Todd Graham recently abandoned his Pitt Panther football team for Arizona State University, and $2M/year. Again, of course, it was a “family decision” done with “the best intent of my family”. However, this terd couldn’t even meet with his team and coaches to tell them in person. BTW, this is his 4th job in the last 6 years. These coaches always demand commitment and loyalty from their players, but they are free to wander whenever the wind changes direction. Why don’t coaches have to sit out a year just like a transferring player does? The clock is already ticking in Tempe for the next Graham departure….. Sandusky Shower Defense

As a Penn State alum, I’ve been embarassed, saddened, and outraged at the whole Jerry Sandusky debacle. I thought I had heard just about everything from the talking heads reporting this crap, but now I hear of the newest lawyer on the Sandusky stellar defense team, Karl Rominger, who has come clean to us all as to why Mr. Sandusky has an affinity for showering with young boys. Apparently, “underpriviledged boys must be shown how to put soap on their bodies”, and Jerry was simply “teaching hygiene”. What is this dildo smoking?? No explanation yet for the rythmic slapping sounds. Can’t wait for this trial to begin and see Rominger dazzle with further brillance. I felt that this year’s Heisman winner (RG III) was very well-deserving, Superman socks and all. Two-time runner-up, Andrew Luck, was also very gracious in his outcome. But why in the hell did Tom Rinaldi have to ask Luck when RG III was still up on stage celebrating, “What could you have done more to win it?”. The most class-less question at the most awkward time I’ve ever seen. In fact, he asked that question right from the seat that RG III had just vacated next to Luck when his name was called to come up on stage. Hey, what was up with that band with the violin player in the back of the room? Was that out of place or what?
